Travis Pastrana Practices a World Record Rally Jump


This video proves once again that Travis Pastrana is insane.  You can watch Travis Pastrana’s practice session for the world’s longest rally jump.  

Pastrana is planning to jump off a ramp at the end of a pier over 250 feet of water to a waiting barge as part of a New Year’s celebration.  If all the practice sessions go well and indicate that it’s possible stunt, then we should see a very exciting car jump.  But for now here is a video of Pastrana practice for the jump.

Subaru Returns to 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge

After taking a year off, Subaru is preparing to get back into the rallying.  No they are not returning back to World Rally Championship, but to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Subaru has competed in the IRC since its inception but was not previously registered as an official manufacturer in the series.  Rather than field its own works team, Subaru will supply cars to privateers, and will be eligible to score manufacturers points for the 2010.

Porsche Reveals New 911 GT3 Cup

A new Porsche GT3 Cup gets revealed.  Some new features include wider body, lower stance for more down force, competition-spec exhaust, racing wheels that sit in a wider wheel wells, and firmer suspension settings.  A new steering wheel comes with mounted controls, full adjustable column, and carbon-ceramic brakes.

The new engine is being brought in from GT3 RS which is a 3.8-liter 450 horsepower flat-six.  you can only order it in white color, and it will set you back 150,000 euros ($215k US).  The new GT3 Cup will debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Show.

BMW to Exit Formula One at End of 2009 Season

The BMW Group will not continue its Formula One campaign after the end of the 2009 season. Resources freed up as a result are to be dedicated to the development of new drive technologies and projects in the field of sustainability. BMW will continue to be actively involved in other motor sports series. The landmark decision to restructure BMW Motorsport’s activities was made at the Board of Management’s meeting yesterday.

New Series for Electric Motorcycles in 2010


Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has announced a plans to launch a new electric motorcycle racing series in 2010.  As part of the Road Racing Grand Prix Commission, the project will be led by Azhar Hussain, organizer and founder of the TTXGP.

Following the success of the TTXGP race held on the Isle of Man on June 12, the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) has decided to create a FIM Series for electric bikes in 2010. This new FIM Series will be run inside the Road Racing Grand Prix Commission, a great and innovative project led by Mr Azhar Hussain a UK Entrepreneur founder of the TTXGP. The FIM Series for electric bikes will provide an international platform for the development of electric bikes and the technology behind them to be tested in an exciting and challenging way. It aims at driving low-carbon technological innovation forward, to demonstrate that clean-emission transport technologies have matured and can be fun, fast and exciting.

Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger are Comming to NASCAR


NASCAR fans might get what they have been waiting for. Mustang and Dodge Challenger are headed to NASCAR in 2010. Although these cars will have much of under the hood changed from its factory counterparts, it is still pretty exciting news.

The new designs are due to be submitted for approval on June 26, and the 2010 NASCAR competitors are reportedly going to be visually very closer to stock. General Motors has apparently decided not to join its domestic rivals and produce a Camaro shell. Unfortunately Camaro will not be joining the party. GM and Toyota will reportedly run their current Impala and Camry bodies.

Subaru STI Legacy B4 to Compete GT300


 

First, the Nurburgring 24-hour Race, and now GT300?

Looks like Subaru is trying a few different things after a very sad and somewhat unexpected pullout from WRC. But it is a good news that Subaru is not standing still and actually participating in different events to keep their brand visible in a racing circuit.

And now Subaru Technica International crew may have a new project on their hands. A racing version of the new Legacy B4 Sedan would reportedly compete in the second-tier GT300 class race.

The details are very limited at this time, but we will keep you updated once we know more.
