With each consecutive version release of cars from different manufacturers, somehow for some reason they tend to get bigger and gain weight.  Manufacturers try to hide this by increasing engine displacement and HP boost.  One of not many car makers, Mazda MX-5 roadster continued to stay relatively light on its feet.  

Latest reports show that a new version of MX-5 Super light concept, that is due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, should take the current Miata into ever lighter territory.  

It is reported that MX-5 is being prepared for its debut in 2012, with a compact four-cylinder engine and lightweight chassis, the replacement for the current model.  The fate of the MX-2 model, a speculated sub-Miata roadster is yet to be seen.

More news has serficed on the upcoming Toyota and Subaru creation.  The code name of the car is 086A.  Some of the details that have been leaked are that the car will be lower and wider than the old ZZT231 Celica and will have a 2+2 coupe style, with a slight resemblance to the Lexus LF-A.

Toyota is also trying to keep the cost of the car under 2 million yen, which is just under $21K US.  They say that the price is crucial to the 086A’s success and everything is being done to keep it this way.  Another very cool rumor that follows this is that Subaru STi version of the 086A is also being considered! It seems that Subaru is very interested in the presence of a true RWD sports car in its line of products.

Mercedes-Benz has built an Experimental Safety Vehicle called S400 Hybrid to show the latest and greatest in Mercedes’ safety technology.

Some of the below mentioned features are braking bag and a panel under the car, which operates as an air brake and a support in case of an accident.

More information has come out on the speculated  project between Toyota and Subaru.  Their new ventured coupe project provides more details, suggesting the engine that will have 200 hp and 145 lb-ft, MacPherson struts and multilink suspension, and carrying a weight of only 2,700-pounds.

Supposedly the car internals are from Subaru (2.0-liter engine).  The car might be offered in two slightly different flavors (not too sure exactly which ones yet).  The price for the car is peculated to start around $20,000, and is expected to be release in 2011 (maybe).  I just really hope that they will do something about the look for the car, because the rendered Toyota corolla coupe image will just not do.
