Edmunds Test Subaru Stella
Subara Stella EV is going on sale in Japan this summer. Subaru has already started the production of 170 Stella EVs just recently.
We are all eagerly awaiting to test Stella, but Inside Line has already had the chance to test one this week. Stella carries a hefty price tag of $47,900, but drops down to $29,000 after the government subsidies.
Subaru has a fairly small battery of only 9.2 kWh which should last about 55 miles. The interior of the car is small as it was expected to be. Acceleration of the car 0 to 40 mph comes in at just four seconds, and the top speed is limited to 60 mph, due to possible problem with batteries overheating. 80 percent of the charge can be achieved in just 15 minutes with a high power charging station. Edmunds concludes that the cost and range remain a problem to justify getting one.
